Trader Joes

Trader joes is a wonderful chain of markets started right here in Los Angeles which is now owned and run by our friends the Germans.

Focused on healthy natural products at low prices which they claim to get by “cutting out the middle man” and packaging and branding their own products at local businesses. An effect of making local deals is that many of  the items are Trader Joe’s vary depending on where the market is.  Or the brand being the same but the manufacturer and ingredients are different.  I noticed this for myself realizing the oatmeal druid cookies at one store were dryer in texture and lacked the coconut I find at my favorite location.

I’ve grown to love this store so much I buy my food there whenever possible. The folowing are some of my favorite items. This is a  list in progress of my favorite things from trader joes just in case I have some sort of car accident that results in me forgetting all my favorite foods:

Dark Chocolate Pretzel Slims

Druid Circles (oatmeal cookies)

Vintage Orange Cream soda

multigrain bread(yellow bread, lol)

Creamy unsalted peanut butter

Apples and Cinnamon instant oatmeal

Steel Cut Frozen oatmeal

Breaded Chicken tenders( a little spicy!)

Neapolitan Fresh fruit bars(Raspberry, lemon and Strawberry neatly separated like stripes)

Bree cheese log (its in a log about the size of a cracker so its super easy to cut and serve)

Creamy corn and roasted pepper soup

Organic Blueberry preserves(Raspberry and Blackberry preserves are fine too)

Grilled chicken strips rubbed in Chipotle Lime sauce.

Charaks Shaw white zinfandel (Most people refer to this brand as Two buck Chuck as it costs only two dollars per bottle , the wine is so good that many interesting urban legends have arose to explain how such a good wine can be priced so cheap, having won several serious awards

Will be updated in the future.

Update: sep 27

Wow! what a change! I don’t buy any of these things anymore!

My diet is very different from what it used to be, but I feel thats for the better as I’ve learned more about nutrition and cooking I’ve stopped buying pre-made foods and started cooking by scratch.
